LAVENDER GOLDEN DOUGHNUTS
•Posted on November 02 2017
Create the prettiest and most impressive golden doughnuts with a variety of colorful sprinkles and our edible gold leaf!
We used our favorite plain cake doughnuts, baked and cooled. Bake your own doughnuts, or store-bought also works just fine.
To make your glaze, start with about 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, add a drop of food coloring, then add one teaspoon of water at a time, stirring in between. The trick is to get your glaze just thin enough to be able to dip your doughnuts, but not too thin it runs off your doughnut. We have found that it needs to be a bit thicker than you would think.
Dip your doughuts, letting some of glaze run off before setting your doughnut down. Then sprinkle away! To add gold leaf, while your doughnut glaze is still wet, use a dry paint brush to grab a small piece of gold leaf and simply apply to your doughnut. So easy!
